STILLWATER, Okla.  (Dec. 1, 2008) – Alison Yirsa, a senior at Oklahoma State University, is one of 115 students who have received his or her student teaching assignment this semester.

“The student teaching internship is a very important capstone professional experience for our teacher candidates,” Dr. Christine Ormsbee, associate director of the Professional Education Unit and head of the School of Teaching and Curriculum Leadership at OSU, said.  “The opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired here at OSU in a real classroom environment with successful veteran teachers is invaluable and has a lasting effect on them throughout their teaching careers.

Yirsa, who is majoring in elementary education, will be teaching second grade at Will Rogers Elementary School in Stillwater, Okla. Yirsa’s cooperating teacher is Anita Hauf.

A graduate of Grove High School in Grove, Okla., Alison is the daughter of Blaine and Vera Yirsa of Grove.
