Thirty five of Grove’s finest “young” men and their escort, Donna Gardner, boarded a bus headed for Tulsa to tour the American Airlines Maintenance Base. This group of men is well known in the Grand Lake area as the R.O.M.E.O.s (Retired Old Men Eating Out). They are a part of Grand Travelers at Grand Savings Bank. This trip was especially interesting to many of the guys in the group because they have aviation experience and some of them are retired American Airlines employees.
After being checked through security, the R.O.M.E.O.s were met by their tour escorts. They learned when an airplane arrives at the base a total of 400 employees and 12 days will be needed for a complete renovation of the interior and exterior. The Tulsa Maintenance and Engineering Center is capable of full airframe repair, overhaul, and modification. The R.O.M.E.O.s were able to view all levels of maintenance on the engines, landing gear, wheels and brakes. They were impressed with the thoroughness of each employee as they completed their assigned jobs.
The R.O.M.E.O.s are an important part of Grand Travelers at Grand Savings Bank. Each month the guys are escorted on a trip to different manufacturing plants, fish hatcheries,
businesses of interest, and museums. For information on how you can be a part of this fun group of guys please contact Grand Savings Bank at 918-786-2203 or 918-253-4844.
