With a break in the icy temperatures, thirty senior pool players from here and the 3 adjacent states, attended the best of 5 game, double elimination, 9-Ball tournament hosted by the Grove Senior Center. Grove players placed high in the final matches but failed to make the top three positions. Bob Neil, Welch, playing nearly perfect pool, won the first place trophy after overcoming a twice threatening challenge from Malcolm Beu, Bella Vista who gained 2nd place. John Jennings, Bentonville,an inveterate winner and perennial threat, placed third in the tightly contested tournament. Mr. Beu, a relative newcomer to the 4 state senior league, has won trophies in his last three competitions. Others who placed high, were: 4) Jack Stepp, Miami; 5) Jim Peck, Joplin; 6) Bob Kley, Grove; 7) Jim Storer, Grove & 8) Truman Hughes, Miami. Bud and Will assumed their customary spectator positions early in the competition.

The senior tournaments are suspended for the Christmas season and will resume January 2 with an 8-Ball tournament in Grove. Neosho will host the Tournament of Champions, 8-Ball tournament on January 8, 2009.
