As I write this update on the Grand Lake Area Chamber I just completed materials for the first board meetings of the year. We will be able to present a good financial statement to the board and will report that we have had a good year and are ready for 2009.

Our new board members have been elected and installed and ready to help guide us on another year of growth.† Joining the board this year are Doug Smith of Grand Water Home Inspections, Joni Rodenbusch of Grand Lake Recycling and Jamie Dobbins of All American Outdoor Advertising.† These new board members have already attended our board retreat at Spring Valley Ranch and our last board meeting of the year at Grand Lake Casino.† At the same time we need to thank our board members how have completed their term on the board, Linda Goldner, Mayor Joe Johnson, and Gary Kirby of Bank of the Lakes.† Thank you all for your work to make this a better place to be.

And speaking of these last two meetings we need to send a big THANK YOU to Spring Valley Ranch for hosting our board retreat.† It was a great atmosphere to sit around the huge fireplace and discuss our past year and our plans for the coming year.† Our next Stop was the Grand Lake Casino where we had a ribbon cutting to welcome our newest Diamond Member which also came with their being our title sponsor for Casino Night on March 7th at Cherokee Yacht Club.† These two have helped us get a running start for 2009.

Plans are now in place for our first chamber luncheon that is scheduled on January 22nd at Oliverís Twist at 11:30 AM.† It has been November since we were all together so I know we will have lots to catch up on.† We do need to know if you are joining us so the chefís at Oliverís can have the right amount of food and beverage for us.† We will also have a presentation of our Total Resource Campaign.† We are contacting everyone†† that has supported the chamber by sponsorships or advertising early this year to let each of you plan for the year in one meeting.† We already have commitments on several projects so contact Kristal at the chamber office so you will not miss out on opportunities to promote your business.

In two weeks we will have the official opening of the season with the Tulsa Boat, Sport & Travel Show.† They have moved the event back one week so we can all watch the Super Bowl on the 1st of February and then have VIP Night on Monday the 2nd.† And as you may have already heard Grand Lake Night will be Wednesday the 4th with the Chamber bus leaving from Reasorsí parking lot at 5:00 PM for a fun ride to the show.† For $35.00 you can ride the bus, get a ticket to the show and enjoy food and beverage at the Arrowhead Balcony.† This was great fun last year with singing along the way.† Reservations are limited as the bus only has 55 seats, so call the Chamber office now and get your seat and LEAVE THE DRIVING TO US!† 918-782-3214

On a personal note I want to thank everyone for there support of our efforts here at the Chamber.† If we all keep that POSITIVE ATTITUDE for the coming year we can make our Lake even GRANDER!†††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††††† HAVE A GREAT GRAND DAY!!!
