NEO Medical Center in Miami, located on South Treaty Road, East Highway 10, is pleased to welcome Shirley Chesnut, DO, to their team.  Dr. Chesnut practices family medicine and specializes in the treatment of acute and chronic illnesses as well as wellness, education and preventative care.  “I am thrilled about the opportunity to continue to serve the patients in this community.  NEO Medical Center is a good fit for me.  I enjoy working in a patient-centered atmosphere that is committed to a continuity of care”, said Chesnut.  An Oklahoma native, Dr. Chesnut graduated from Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1980.  She completed her internship and residency in Tulsa and has since served as Chief Medical Officer of the Cherokee National Health Clinic in Jay, Oklahoma, and Chief Medical Officer, Clinic Director and Director of Laboratory Services at the Miami Indian Health Center in Miami, Oklahoma.  Most recently Dr. Chesnut served as Staff Physician of the Grand Lake Mental Health Clinic.  She is a member of the Commissioned Officers Association of the U.S.P.H.S., American Osteopathic Association, Oklahoma Osteopathic Association, and the Northeast Oklahoma Osteopathic Association.  Dr. Chesnut joins three other providers on staff at NEO Medical Center including Martin Grotheer, MD, Clay Tessmer, PA, and Aleta Fox, PA-C, and Dorothy Mayes, ARNP.  “Dr. Chesnut will be a great asset to NEO Medical Center,” said Dr. Grotheer.  “The expansion of our medical staff will help us maintain our standards for consistent quality care and will enable us to provide even better customer service to our patients.”    Shirley, her husband Chuck and their four children live in Miami.
