As the year begins to close….Do you believe it we are working on our final events for the year!!!!

Of course the Grand Lake Rally is just two weeks away with activities all around the Pond.  If you would like to have a booth on Saturday at the Airport and are a chamber member the cost is only $25.00.  Call the Chamber office as the last day for sign up is the 5th of September!!!!!

Two weeks after the Rally is the Annual and National Hook N’ Cook Off at Pelican landing on September 26th & 27th.  The Family Fun will start @ 5:00 PM Friday evening with the Grand Lake Live Radio Show entertainment and Inflatables for kids of all ages to enjoy.  And yes we will have food and beverages.  Saturday Morning the gates open a 9:30 AM and the cooking will begin with judging, the Miss Catfish contest, the car show, the Power Squadron swoop met more music, more beverages and feeding starts at Noon.  Tickets are now on sale and are only $5.00.

In order to keep the chamber staff hopping we are going to have the Corporate Challenge Golf Tournament on October 13th, Monday at the Coves Golf Course.  So be thinking of your winning team and registration will begin soon.

G.L.U.E. has posted a petition on there web site and in the Chronicle for everyone to sign.  We need to show our support for all the hard work that has gone in to develop the Shoreline Management Plan as it is now in Washington D.C. waiting review and approval form the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.  Please find it and sign IT!

A BIG thank you goes out to all of the businesses that supported Another Fun in the Sun Poker Run last week.   The winners included Brandon Robbins, Donna Heaton and Debbie Melton.  The crowd was a little light, but for those who participated, I know they had a Grand time.  The next time we have a dry spell in the weather we can schedule a Run and IT WILL Rain.  Also thanks to our helpers at Arrowhead Yacht Club Rusty Fleming, Tiffany McKibben, Dick and Judy Segress and Tim Toohey.  Of course a big thanks to the chamber staff, Kristal Hodges, Paula Harbuck and Tiffany Green how made it happen.

Another year ending event is the election of board members to the chamber for open seats.  At the membership luncheon on the 28th of August we presented the nominations for the open seats on the board.  Those how have served the board of three are more years going off this year are Mayor Joe Johnson, Gray Kirby and Linda Goldner.  We have been honored to have their input and support over the last few years.  We will be e-mailing and mailing out nomination forms this week, so if you would like to be on the board and help this chamber continue to grow and serve the entire lake, fill out the form and send it in.  We are pleased to have representation from all around the lake from Adair, to Grove, to Monkey Island to the Dam.

Our goals are simple, as I stated at the Construction Launch last Friday of the GRDA Ecosystems and Education Center…..we are helping our member businesses grow and helping to expand services for all those who make Grand Lake there home, the visitors and those how want to make Grand their place to be.
