Whether you cook, craft, cruise, or run there’s something for everyone at Miami NOW 2009. Vendors and competitors are getting geared up for one of the many competitions, but there is still time to sign-up and compete at Miami Native Oklahoma Weekend coming up October 2nd-4th 2009. There are many ways to get involved, but most require pre- registration. Sign-up today and join the fun.

The Big Competitions:

1. WARDOG CHILI COOK-OFF

If you believe you have the best bowl of chili and want to put it to the test sign-up for the the Wardog Chili Cook-off, hosted by First National Bank, taking place Saturday, October 3rd. Competitors must sign-up by September 25th. For more information contact Kellie Garber at (918) 542-3371.

2. GREEN COUNTRY 5K RUN

Runners will take their mark for the 3rd Annual Green Country 5k Run, hosted by Integris Baptist Regional Health Center, to benefit United Way of Ottawa County at 9 a.m. Saturday October 3rd. Mail registration to IBRHC P.O. Box 1207 Miami, OK 74355 or take them by the Miami Chamber of Commerce.

3. ENDLESS MEMORIES BENEFIT CAR SHOW

Car lovers are set to converge on downtown Miami for the Endless Memories Benefit Car Show Saturday October 3rd. Classes include car, truck, rat rod, and motorcycles. For more information call (918) 801-3218 or log on to www.endless-memories.org.

4. INDIAN TACO & FRY BREAD DESSSERT COOK-OFF

The 1st ever Indian Taco & Fry Bread Dessert Cook-off is open to competitors who register by 5:00 p.m. on September 25th, 2009. Pick-up forms at the Miami Area Chamber of Commerce and mail them to P.O. Box 760 Miami, OK or to MACC 111 N. Main, Miami, OK.

5. ROUTE 66 KARAOKE COMPETITION, GUITAR HERO COMPETITION & DACHSHUND RACES

That’s right – Dachshund races, guitars, and karaoke all hosted by Miami Main Street.

Friday is karaoke open mic night (7-10 p.m.) and then the competition kicks-off with the Adult & Youth Division Karaoke on Saturday evening (7-10 p.m.). The Guitar Hero Competition takes place Saturday, October 3rd from 4-6 p.m., but that morning don’t miss the Dachshund Races at 10 a.m. For more information, contact Fay Culver at Miami Main Street – 918-542-1590.

7. ROUTE 66 BENEFIT POKER RUN

Proceeds to benefit Bikers Against Child Abuse (B.A.C.A.) and it’s happening
