Grand Lake boaters are hard at work decorating and getting ready for the 2010 Grand Lake Christmas Light Boat Parade by Cherokee Yacht Club on December 4.

“Last year it took thirty hours and 14,000 lights,” said Jimmy Young, owner of Big Bobber, winner of the 2009 parade.

“This year we are going to use 16,000 – 17,000,” he said.

The boat parade will meet Saturday at Cherokee Courtesy Docks at 4 p.m. and continue on the to the Pensacola Dam and back along the shorelines to Duck Creek.

Viewing from shore is possible at several locations including at the Harbors View Marina and Marine Max in Afton and at the Pensacola Dam. The dam will be closed to automobiles to accommodate for the Disney – Langley Parade and Christmas Light Boat Parade viewers.
