Octogenarian plus, Bud Johnson, Baxter Springs, demonstrated nearly perfect skills at the Miami Senior Center, best of 5 game, double elimination, 8-Ball tournament.

Mr. Johnson or “Bud” as he is better known, showed no signs of slowing down in spite of what some might call, “his advanced years of experience!”

After winning several matches and shooting quite well, this writer experienced a complete rout at the hands of “Bud!” Others suffered the same fate as he won every match, with not one contender even coming close.

Second place went to Jim Peck, Joplin who showed nearly equal prowess in his later matches.  Third place went to Will Winder, Grove, who suffered ignominious defeat to both Bud and Jim. Others finishing high in the tournament were: Jim DeWitt, Bentonville; Glen York, Joplin; Marlin Roeder, Neosho; Bob Kley, Grove and Lonnie Stover, Grove.

The next Senior Pool Tournament will be held on Nov. 6, at the Neosho Senior Center. Play will commence at 9:00 AM, and anyone of or beyond the age of 60 may participate.
