A Hunter education course has been set for Grove, Oklahoma Begining at 8:00 a.m. to 5:00pm on August 9, 2008. The course will be held at the Grove Higher Education Center located at 1201 NEO Loop Grove, Oklahoma.

 “The course is open to everyone and those successfully completing the course will receive their Oklahoma hunter education student card,” said David Sergeant, Instructor.

 “These hunter education cards are required by law for all persons born since January 1, 1972: upon reaching their 16th birthday or older who want to purchase an Oklahoma hunting license, combination hunting/fishing license, lifetime license or deer/turkey permit. Also, persons under 16 years of age who want to purchase a deer gun permit or hunt big game such as deer must receive this certification.

This Oklahoma card is recognized and accepted in other states requiring hunter education training.” Sergeant continued.

 Topics to be covered in the course will include rifle,shotgun,and handgun safety/handling/storage/cleaning, muzzleloading,bowhunting, Oklahoma laws/regulations, hunter responsibilities and survival/wilderness-first aid.

More than 200,000 persons have completed this course in Oklahoma and this training has played a major role in reducing hunting accidents.
