Abundant Blessings Center of Grove is gearing up for their first annual Walk for Life.

The event, which is planned for Saturday, October 10, is an important fund raiser for the center, according to Linda Smith, director.

“We have been supported by some of the local churches and friends, however, we have not been able to meet our budget this year,” Smith said, “so the walk is crucial in meeting those needs.”

Among the services the center provides are Free and Confidential Pregnancy Testing, Counseling, STD information, along with maternity and baby clothing, basic parenting education and other prenatal and post natal services.

The Walk for Life will coincide with the center’s one year anniversary.

“We want this to be a community wide celebration and a fun, family morning,” Smith said.

The event will begin at what will be Cornerstone Church at 5th and Main at 10 a.m. to the Grove Christian Center on Hwy 10 and Shundi Rd. Registration begins at 8 a.m

“At the end there will be hot dogs, games and prizes for the whole family,” said Smith.

A dunk tank will also be part of the fun at the end of the walk.

Organizers are looking for persons who would like to be a liaison at their church or organization to help promote the event.

“Walkers will ask for pledges from their friends and family,” Smith said, “those raising over $100 will get a t-shirt and be eligible for a number of other prizes.”

Abundant Blessings Center will also hold a special breakfast meeting for liaisons on Saturday, September 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the Rivers of Life center east of Grove.
