GROVE – Members of the Grand Travelers Group attended an informational tour presentation about cruising the islands of Hawaii on the Norwegian cruise ship Pride of America.

Cruise ship tour experts Russ and Susan Rosenberry of Islands in the Sun Cruises and Travel, provided members with a day to day breakdown of the nine day trip, which is set to depart March 10, 2011.

“We will offer two free nights on the trip in order for you to get used to the time change in Hawaii,” said Susan.  “And then we still stay a total of seven nights.”

Upon arrival, the ship will dock at the Aloha Tower Marketplace.

The group will be staying at a hotel in Waikiki.

Guests are free to explore the island on their own by renting a car, or take part in the many tours that the ship has to offer.  Tours include snorkeling trips, golfing or a trip to the Bishop Museum.  With the ship being docked in the heart of the island of Oahu there is plenty of sightseeing, shopping and fun.

“Norwegian cruise ships offer ‘freestyle’ cruising,” Susan noted. “You don’t have to dress up in your suit and tie.”

After a trip to Pearl Harbor the group will head back to the ship and set sail for the beautiful island of Maui where they will stay overnight.

Docking by the airport on the island makes it easy to pick up a rental car and see the sights.

This island boasts a championship golf course, Haleakala National Park where tourists may watch the sunrise atop a 9,000 ft crater, and a chance to learn the culture in upcountry Maui.

The next island on the trip is the Big island of Hawaii.  The Big Island has two sides, and tours will be split into two parts.  The first part will be exploring the Hilo side and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.  The other leg of the trip will be on the Kona side where guests can take helicopter tours and explore waterfalls and the beauty of Hawaii.

The last stop on the trip is the island of Kauai, Hawaii’s island of discovery.  Sights include botanical gardens, waterfalls, Waimea Canyon and 50 miles of heavenly beaches.

The Norwegian Pride of America is the only cruise ship that stays in Hawaii and only sails to the Hawaiian Islands.  Inside the ship are eight restaurants, a health club and spa and live entertainment every night.

The cost of the trip includes transportation to and from the airport, airfare, all transfers in Hawaii, ship gratuities and trip cancellation and insurance.

Other events coming up for the Grand Travelers include a three day 50’s party in Kansas City, and a trip to Chicago in the Fall.  For more information on the Grand Travelers contact 786-2203.
