A food drive will be held on Saturday, Dec. 13, at Buffalo Shores South, to help needy families of Delaware County.  Residents and members of the public may drop off food items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Buffalo Shores Recreation Club located at 1628 Pine Drive, Grove.  Donated items will be delivered to the Grove Christian H.E.L.P. Center for distribution.

The food drive is sponsored by the Buffalo Shores South Property Owners Association and the Recreation Club.  The two neighborhood organizations decided to collaborate in the effort after hearing of serious food bank shortages affecting area residents.

Staff at the H.E.L.P. Center said the most needed items include sugar, cooking oil, powdered milk, canned food, flour, water-packed fruit, and sugar-free Jello.  Monetary donations also are welcomed, they said.  Checks made out to the Christian H.E.L.P. Center may be dropped off at the Buffalo Shores Recreation Club and will be delivered to the center.

Green said, “The current economic situation is hitting many families who never needed help before.  Now is the time for us to reach out to our fellow citizens in need.  We hope to be able to deliver many bags of food to the H.E.L.P. Center for distribution this holiday season.”
