POTEAU, Okla. (AP) — A task force has been formed to investigate the deaths of two people in Le Flore County.

Sheriff Bruce Curnutt has asked the FBI, U.S. Marshals, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the county district attorney’s office to jointly look into the deaths of Joe Neff and Jody Rilee Wilson.

Wilson’s body was spotted May 8 by a paraglider over Poteau Mountain. The state medical examiner’s office says her body was too decomposed to determine a cause of death.

Neff’s body was found May 17 in an old mining pit with a gunshot wound to the head.

Both cases remain unsolved and Curnutt says with leads drying up he hopes the task force will be able to generate some new ideas.
