The relentless heat didn’t stop residents from across the area and surrounding states from taking part in the 10th Annual Summerfest Car Show 2011 in Vinita on Saturday.

“There are a lot of beautiful, classic cars here today,” said Dennis Patrick, event sponsor. “We have some new entries and some familiar faces, and everyone is enjoying themselves in spite of the heat.”

Several Grove area residents entered their classic cars in the competition, including Pete Seitz, Bill Edwards and John Shearin. “This show is a lot of fun. It’s hot but there are a lot of great cars out here,” Shearin said.

John and Mary Shearin of Grove took their 1953 Mercury pick-up to the 10th Annual Summerfest Car Show 2011 held in

Vinita on Saturday. Patricia Island resident Bill Edwards braved the heat to enter his 1960 El Camino lowrider.
