We like choices. Wouldn't it be a dull world if everyone drove the same model and same color of car or all wore clothing made alike?
We like choices. Game shows are based on choosing the right answer. When you go to a restaurant, you are presented with a variety of food on the menu fixed in a number of ways.
When there is a decision to make, I will often ask, "What are my options?" I want to know my choices.
Evidently, marketing people know that. When I go to the store to buy toothpaste, I am confronted with an overwhelming number of options. One can buy toothpaste with a mouthwash included, along with whitening, tartar protection, clinical plaque control, fresh mint and/or cavity protection. (I thought that every tube of toothpaste should have cavity protection. Isn't that what toothpaste is all about?) The irony is that all of these choices are found in just one brand.
God gives us choices, lots of choices. But He gives us a couple of very important ones.
“This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live” (Deut. 30:19).
This is the most crucial choice in life we must make. We can accept God to guide us through life and be with Him throughout eternity. If we reject God, we will also have to live with the consequences of that choice. What will you choose?
