Fundraiser to benefit backpack program
This week's "Guest Chef" night at the American Grill will benefit the Backpack program, a ministry which helps provide food for students within the Grove Public School System.
The meal, set for 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, will feature meatloaf prepared by Dr. Mike David and Warren Brumley. Proceeds from the drinks purchased, as well as the homemade baked goods go towards the fund.

Rock The Runway
Photography by Katherine will host its third annual "Rock the Runway" fashion show featuring members of the 2014 senior class at Grove High School, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, at The Vista Towers at Shangri-La.
The event is a fundraiser for the 2014 Grove High Schoo Project Graduation. Approximately 35 seniors will model clothing provided by Dashelle D'Ann, Grand Panache, Island Nation and Den of Uniquity. Brock Short will serve as the DJ.
Tickets are $10, or $25 for a VIP ticket. Doors open at 7 p.m., with the event beginning at 7:30 p.m.

GAMA's September CASH MOB
The Grove Area Merchant's Association will host its September CASH Mob beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, at Elk River Exchange, just north of the Elk River (Cowskin) Bridge, on Highway 10, north of Grove.
Participants are encouraged to bring $10 cash to shop. This is a monthly program sponsored by the GAMA.
Indian taco fundraiser for Williams
An Indian taco fundraiser for Peggy Williams will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27, at Good Shepherd Hospice, Grove.
The event is designed to help Williams, with expenses related to her medical treatment. The meal, $6, includes dessert. Orders will be available for delivery in the Grove and Jay areas by calling 918-786-6182 prior to the day of the event. To-go meals may be picked up at the Good Shepherd Hospice Conference Room at 2084 S. Main in the South Pointe Shopping Center, Grove.

Opening weekend for corn maze
The Right Choices Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch will hold its half price opening weekend from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 27 and from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the maze near Southwest City, Mo.
Opening weekend admission is $6. Regular admission is $12, which includes the admission free, maze, hay ride and cow train, corn jump and corn cannon. Children 3 and under are admitted free. Group rates and season passes are available.
The corn maze and pumpkin patch is open from Friday, Sept. 28, to Saturday, Nov. 2, at 1161 Manning Road, Southwest City, Mo.

Grove's First Grand Talent Contest
The first Grove's Grand Talent Contest will take place on Saturday, Sept. 28, in conjunction with the Pelican Festival. The preliminary round will take place at 9 a.m. and the final round at 2 p.m., both at Har-Ber Village Ecology Center, Grove.
The event is sponsored by Grove Community Players and Har-Ber Village. It will feature two age divisions: Youth ages 10 to 17, and Adult, ages 18 and above. The top two performers in each age group will perform at the Pelican Festival, at 6 p.m. at the Grove Civic Center. First prize in both divisions is $500, while second is $250.
Entries must be received by Sept. 14, to be eligible. Entry fee is $10 per person or $20 per group. 20th Annual Hook n' Cook-Off
The 20th annual Hook n' Cook-Off catfish cook-off, organized by the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the South Grand Lake Regional Airport. It will include a car show, arts and crafts vendors and more.

Taste of Grand
Taste of Grand will take place beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at the INTEGRIS Medical Plaza, 900 E. 13th Street, Grove. Tickets are $80.
Taste of Grand offers an array of area cuisine as well as a selection of wine and spirits. Funds raised during the event will benefit programs such as the Townsend Children’s Fund, People in Need fund, Defibrillator Campaign, Camp Bandage and the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund.
