Joe Schneider was recognized for his service to the Delaware County Conservation District earlier this year.

Schneider served the citizens of Delaware County through various appointments of conservation services at both the state and federal levels.

He served the Delaware County Conservation District as acting District Conservationist with NRCS Dec. 23, 1968 to March 23, 1969, and as District Conservationist with NRCS from March 23, 1969 to July 21, 1974.

When Schneider retired from NRCS he started working for the Oklahoma Conservation Commission as the Eucha-Spavinaw 319 Water Quality program Project Coordinator from July 1, 1998 to Aug. 1, 2009.

Once he retired from the OCC, he served as a Board Director for the Delaware County Conservation District board from Dec. 7, 2009 to April 30, 2017.

He served the county residents for a total of 23 years and four months.
