Christmas at the Playmakers

The comedy, “Every Christmas Story You’ve Ever Heard (and then some)” will open at 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, Nov. 25, at The Playmakers, 121 W. 3rd Street, Grove, with a family matinee.

This performance only has discounted tickets for children, ages 5-12 when accompanied by at least one adult, though they may attend with family members at any other performance at regular prices.

Performances continue on 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 28, Friday, Dec. 1, Tuesday, Dec. 5, Friday, Dec. 8; and 2 p.m., Sundays Nov. 26 and Dec. 10.

Christmas Lighting Ceremony

The Jay Christmas Lighting Ceremony, sponsored by the Jay Chamber of Commerce, will take place at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 29, on the Courthouse Square in Jay.

The event will include singing, beginning at 6:30 p.m., Santa, hot food, cookies and hot chocolate.

The lighting of the Courthouse lights will take place between 7:15 and 7:30 p.m.

AARP Driver Safety Program

Local classes for the AARP Driver Safety Program will take place in March to December. The one-day course is six hours in length. Drivers will be able to obtain a discount from their insurance carriers for taking the course.

The classes are open to all interested drivers, including those who have taken it in the past. Upcoming class dates are Wednesday, Nov. 29, and Saturday Dec. 9.

Ribbon Cuttings for Grove Chamber

Two ribbon cuttings will take place on Thursday, Nov. 30, for new members of the Grove Chamber of Commerce.

The first, for Ron's Honey Dues and owner Ron Junkert, will take place at 10 a.m., at the chamber office on Highway 59. The second, for The Party Store, will take place at 10:30 a.m., 2114 South Main, Grove.

First Friday Wine Share

The first Friday Wine Share will take place at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Grove.

Participants are asked to bring their favorite bottle of wine. Singles may bring a bottle every other month, couples are asked to bring one per month. Participants are also asked to bring their own wine glass and an appetizer to share.

Picher Christmas Parade

The Picher Christmas Parade is back for a third year and is set for 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2.

It is free to enter and last year’s parade brought in nearly a thousand people. The theme this year is "Coming Home For Christmas."

Miami Christmas Parade

The 2017 Miami Christmas Parade, “A North Pole Christmas” will take place at 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 2, in downtown Miami.

The “Christmas Parade on Route 66” will head south on Main Street, through downtown and disperse at Second Avenue and South Main.

Participants can find parade registration forms on the Miami Regional Chamber of Commerce Facebook Page or at the Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau office.

Santa Claus to visit Fairland

Santa Claus will make a stop in Fairland from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 5, at the Fairland Senior Center, 485 North Main Street, Fairland.

The event will include free hot chocolate, and candy canes, and give parents/guardians a chance to take a picture of their child(ren) with Santa. For more information, persons interested may call 918-409-8396.

Gingerbread Christmas

The Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Lighted Christmas Parade will take place at 6 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, in downtown Grove.

Entries will be judged on the best use of lights and the best theme, which is Gingerbread Christmas. All entries will be required to utilize lights. Fees are $10 per entry.

The chamber's float is the only Santa allowed in the parade. No candy may be thrown from the float.

Jay Christmas Parade

The Jay Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Jay Chamber of Commerce, will take place at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 9, in Jay.

The theme is “Home for the Holidays.” As in the past, the Chamber’s float is the only entry, which may include Santa.

Lineup will take place at 1:30 p.m., on First Street near NAPA. The parade will begin at 2 p.m. No entry form or fee is required, however if the entry includes animals, please contact the chamber for additional information.

Grove Chamber Holiday Open House

The staff of the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce will host a holiday open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the chamber office 9630 Highway 59, Suite, A. Grove.

Grove Home, Garden Show

The annual Home and Garden Show, sponsored by the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce, will take place Friday, Feb. 9 to Sunday, Feb. 11, at the Grove Civic Center, 1702 South Main, Grove.

Entry fees for members are $225 for a 10x10 booth, and $200 for an additional 10x10 booth space; for non members, the fees are $275 and 250 respectively. For booths touching the center court, have an additional $50 per 10x10 booth space fee.

No applications will be processed until payment is received. Drapes, side rails, tables, chairs and badges are provided to vendors.
