Long-time Grove resident Mike Reed has been named as the new Fire Marshall for the Grove Fire Department.
Reed assumed his duties earlier this month.
“I’m excited about it,” said Reed. “I’m excited to see the Grove Fire Department grow. I think we’ve got bright things in our future and I’m glad to be a part of it.”
The Marshall has nine years of fire fighting experience, seven of those with the Grove FD. Before taking over his new post Reed had worked for the city in various departments for eighteen years. Reed’s adjustment to his new work environs has progressed smoothly.
“Everybody here (at the GFD) has been very helpful,” he said. “It’s been a great experience coming over here.”
Fire Department Chief Lee Dollarhide echoed those same sentiments about Reed.
“He’s going to be a great addition and we look forward to having him,” said Dollarhide.
Reed and his wife Angela make their home in Grove. The couple has two children, daughter Mikelynn, aged 20, and son Jacob, aged 11 months.
“I’m just proud to serve the community,” said Reed, “and I appreciate everything the city of Grove has done for me.”
